Declaration on data protection and consent for the use of data

Data protection is very important for quaneo GmbH and we would like to inform you, openly and transparently, how your personal data is processed. This is why we have a declaration on data protection, which describes how your personal data is processed and protected.

  1. Responsible controller of your data

The controller responsible for collecting, processing and using your personal data, as per the German Federal Law on Data Protection, is quaneo GmbH, Grosse Theaterstrasse 7, 20354 Hamburg, Germany (referred to henceforth as “quaneo“). Insofar as you may wish to refuse for your data to be collected, processed or used by quaneo, in accordance with these data protection stipulations, in entirety or in respect of individual activities, you can send your note of refusal by email, fax or letter to the following contact details: quaneo GmbH, Grosse Theaterstrasse 7, 20354 Hamburg, Germany, fax: +49 (0) 40 244 21 855, email: Besides this, you may, of course, at any time also obtain information free-of-charge in respect of data saved with us (please also see point 5 in this regard).

  1. Collection, processing and use of personal data

Personal data is details about the material or personal circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name, your telephone number, your address and all the details which you provide when registering and/or setting up a customer account. Statistical data which, for example, is collected when you visit a web shop, and which cannot be directly connected to you, does not fall into this category. For example, there may be statistics about which pages on our website are particularly popular or how many users visit particular pages on our website.

  1. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file, which is saved on your computer or mobile device, and which may be retrieved by the same when you access the site again. If you use our services, we assume that you agree to the use of such cookies.

What are cookies? Cookies are small files which are saved on your storage device and which save the particular settings and data exchanged with our system via your browser. There is a basic distinction between two different kinds of cookies: what are called session cookies, which are deleted as soon as you close the browser, and temporary/permanent cookies, which are saved on your storage device for a longer or unlimited period of time. Saving these files helps us to tailor our websites and what we offer you, and makes it easier for you to use, in that, for example, particular information you have entered is saved, so you don’t have to keep entering it again.

What cookies does use? Most of the cookies we use are automatically deleted from your hard disk at the end of the browser session (hence “session cookies”). Besides these we also use cookies which remain on your hard disk. When you visit us again, it will automatically be recognised that you have already been to us and what your preferred entries and settings are. These temporary or indeed permanent cookies (with a life-cycle of 1 month to 10 years) are saved on your hard disk and delete themselves after a fixed period of time. In particular, these cookies serve the purpose of making what we offer user-friendlier, more effective and more secure. Thanks to these files, it is possible, for example, for information specially tailored to your interests to be displayed on the page. The sole aim of these cookies is to best tailor what we offer to your preferences as a customer and to make your time surfing the internet with us as comfortable as possible.

What data is stored in the cookies? The cookies used by only store pseudonymous data. When activating the cookies, this is assigned an identification number, and your personal data is not assigned to this identification number. Your name, your IP address and other such information, which would make it possible to identify a cookie with you, are not contained in the cookie. The only information we obtain, based on cookie technology, is pseudonymised, for example, which pages on our website have been visited, which products were viewed etc.

How can you prevent cookies being stored?

You can configure your browser so that cookies are only saved if you agree to it. If you only want to accept the quaneo cookies, but not the cookies of our service providers and partners, you can choose the setting, “Block third-party cookies” in your browser. As a rule, the menu feature in your web browser, via a help function, will show you how to decline new cookies and switch off cookies already accepted. We would recommend, in the case of shared computers which are set to accept cookies and flash cookies, that you log out completely at the end of your session.

  1. Web Analyse – Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google“). Google Analytics uses “cookies“, that is text files which are saved on your computer and which make it possible to analyse, via Google, use of what we offer. The information collected regarding the use of our websites (including your IP address) is, as a rule, sent to a server in the USA and stored there. We would advise you that Google Analytics has been expanded on our websites to include the code “gat._anonymizeIp();;”, in order to provide anonymised collection of IP addresses (what is called IP masking). So, at our instigation, your IP address is only collected by Google in shortened form, which provides anonymity and no scope for tracing it back to your identity. In the case of activation of IP anonymisation on our websites, your IP address will be shortened in advance by Google within the Member States of the European Union or other Contracting States in the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use the designated information to evaluate your use of our websites, to produce reports for us on the website activities and in order to provide us with other services related to the use of websites and the internet. The IP address communicated by your browser under the aegis of Google Analytics is not merged with other data from Google. Google will only pass this data on to third parties, if legally required or in the context of contractual data processing. In no event will Google merge your data with other data collected by Google. By using these websites, you give your consent for Google to collect data about you, with the means of data processing described above, and with the designated purpose. You can prevent cookies being stored using the relevant setting in your browser software. We would advise you, however, that in this case you will not be able to make full use of all the functions on our websites. Moreover, you can prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of these websites (incl. your IP address) at Google, and prevent Google from processing this data, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link. You can find out more information about Google Analytics and data protection here:
